Olsi Jazexhi is a PhD researcher at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy. He is a graduate of Human Sciences in Mass Communication, and has a master degree in History and Civilization from the International Islamic University Malaysia. Born in Tirana in 1977, he finished his primary education at the same city.

In 1996 he pursued his bachelor in Mass Communication in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. After completing the bachelor in 2000, he continued his master degree in History & Civilization at the same University. His master thesis was dedicated to the Ottoman Bushatli Pashalik of Shkodra, in Northern Albania from 1757 - 1831.

During his 6 years of stay in Malaysia, he worked for a number of Malaysian companies, and taught history at IIC College, in Kuala Lumpur.
After returning in Albania in June 2002 he started writing for local newspapers and magazines. His articles are related mainly to the history of the Ottoman Empire, Albania, Islam and Cultural encounters of Islam with the West. He has taught medieval and ancient history at VKT Educational Institute in Tirana.

Since 2004 he directed the communitarian organization Jehona Study Center based in Tirana, where he published the magazine IMPAKT ndėrkombėtar and different books. At present he is pursuing his PhD research at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy.
